Christmas Launch of Domestic Abuse Campaign in Northamptonshire
A campaign addressing domestic abuse has been initiated to coincide with the festive season.
As the holiday season approaches, Northamptonshire Police anticipates a surge in domestic abuse cases.
Law enforcement officers caution perpetrators to anticipate police intervention and the pursuit of legal consequences.
The campaign aims to empower victims to report all forms of abuse, encompassing both physical and psychological incidents.
Detective Chief Inspector Andy Rogers, overseeing the force’s Domestic Abuse Investigation Unit, emphasized the proactive stance of officers in ensuring public safety.
“Officers are committed to responding swiftly to incidents, working tirelessly to safeguard individuals,” stated Det Ch Insp Andy Rogers.
Acknowledging the unfortunate trend of increased domestic abuse cases during Christmas, Rogers highlighted that some offenders sought to attribute their violent actions to factors like alcohol, financial stress, or family conflicts. He unequivocally dismissed these as invalid excuses.
“Let’s be unequivocal – it’s a choice. Should you choose to commit an offense, we will exhaust all resources to shield the victim and hold you accountable,” Rogers affirmed.
Presently, officers are diligently pursuing a ‘most wanted’ list, targeting individuals responsible for severe domestic abuse, stalking, and harassment. The authorities have announced intentions to publicly disclose names and photos of these individuals unless they voluntarily present themselves for questioning.
Det Ch Insp Rogers acknowledged that some offenders have expressed concerns about the potential public circulation of their photographs. He advised these individuals to take proactive steps by surrendering themselves to law enforcement.
