Recipe: Traditional Lasagne

Here’s a recipe for Traditional Lasagne:

Ingredients:
– 500g ground beef
– 1 onion, diced
– 2 cloves garlic, minced
– 1 can (400g) of diced tomatoes
– 1 can (400g) of tomato sauce
– 2 tablespoons tomato paste
– 1 tablespoon dried basil
– 1 teaspoon dried oregano
– Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
– 250g lasagne noodles
– 450g ricotta cheese
– 1 large egg
– 250g shredded mozzarella cheese
– 50g grated parmesan cheese

Instructions:

1. Preheat the oven to 180°C.

2. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium-high heat until browned. Drain any excess fat.

3. Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for 2-3 minutes until the onion is translucent.

4. Add the can of diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, dried basil, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper to the skillet. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer.

5. Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for 15-20 minutes until it has thickened slightly.

6. While the sauce is simmering, cook the lasagne noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.

7. In a separate bowl, mix together the ricotta cheese and egg until well combined.

8. To assemble the lasagne, spoon a layer of the meat sauce onto the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish. Add a layer of cooked lasagne noodles on top of the sauce.

9. Spread a layer of the ricotta cheese mixture over the noodles, followed by a layer of shredded mozzarella cheese.

10. Repeat the layers of meat sauce, noodles, ricotta cheese mixture, and mozzarella cheese until all ingredients are used up.

11. Sprinkle the top of the lasagne with grated parmesan cheese.

12. Cover the baking dish with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.

13. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 25 minutes until the top is golden brown and the lasagne is bubbling.

14. Let the lasagne cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
